A man’s acid attack left his victim with serious burns after he doused him in petrol and hydrochloric acid.
Anthony James Lloyd, 62, pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday to multiple counts of assault.
The court heard Lloyd, who is in custody, caused serious harm to the victim with the use of petrol and hydrochloric acid and further harm by using a log splitter as a weapon.
With pleas entered to the other charges, Lloyd’s serious criminal trespass charge was withdrawn by prosecution.
Emergency services crews rushed to a home on Leicester Grove, Andrews Farm around 9pm on April 10 after reports Lloyd had thrown acidic liquid at another man who was known to him.
After an altercation in the front yard, Lloyd fled on foot, but was chased down by the victim.
Police found the pair on nearby Premier Close, where the victim, 55, had sustained burns to his head, shoulder and arm.
A resident on the street, Daniel Cassidy watched on as police caught up to the pair.
“I just saw the guy … take his shirt off and getting all hosed down, it’s pretty crazy to be honest,” Mr Cassidy told 7News at the time.
“Bit unfortunate for him, sorry to hear.”
The victim was rushed to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment but was later transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Lloyd sustained head injuries in the altercation.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, Magistrate Simon Smart adjourned Lloyd’s charges for arraignment in the District Court in November.
