Horror as Andrews Farm man injured after alleged acid assault

A shocked witness looked on as a man doused in petrol and hydrochloric acid was hosed down by police at Andrews Farm.

The alleged acid attack left a man in hospital with serious burns in an incident that happened around 9pm Tuesday.

Emergency services crews rushed to a home on Leicester Grove after reports a man had thrown acidic liquid at another man who was known to him.

After an altercation in the front yard, the suspect fled on foot, but was chased down by the victim.

Police found the pair on nearby Premier Close, where a man, 55, had sustained burns to his head, shoulder and arm.

A resident on the street, Daniel Cassidy. watched on as police caught up to the pair.

“I just saw the guy … take his shirt off and getting all hosed down, it’s pretty crazy to be honest,” Mr Cassidy told 7News.

“Bit unfortunate for him, sorry to hear.”

The victim was rushed to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment but was later transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The suspect sustained head injuries in the altercation.

An Andrews Farm man, 62, was arrested and faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court late on Wednesday.

He was charged with one aggravated count each of intentionally causing both harm and serious harm, as well as one count of assault.

He was further charged with one aggravated count of serious criminal trespass.

The man was remanded in custody to face court again next week, pending a home detention bail report.
