Mount Gambier’s main street is set to undergo a change in the coming months as popular cafe Bloom Eatery and Espresso Bar comes under new ownership.

On March 13, 2024, the due behind Bloom, Jessie Pratt and Cody Jackson, both 24, announced the sale of their business on their Instagram.

“We’ve been working on something behind the scenes and are super excited to announce the sale of our beautiful little cafe,” their post read.

“When powerhouse couple aaron & tia from @kahmacoffeedonuts approached us a few months back with an offer, we were initially super shocked and truthfully, didn’t know what to think!

“After many sleepless nights, long days & a few new grey hairs, we made the decision to accept the offer.”

The business partners. who opened the cafe and coffee shop when they were just 21, said their final day of trade as owners would be on March 28.

The duo first opened Bloom Eatery and Espresso Bar in September 2020, after purchasing the business formerly known as Little Bliss Cafe.

“The shop came up for sale and we’d both worked hospo our whole lives so we decided to give it a go,” Ms Pratt said.

“Our mission has always been just to provide somewhere with fast, fresh and healthy options for breakfast and lunch.”

During Bloom’s short life, the girls and their team achieved many impressive feats, catering more than 50 functions and events, serving more than 10,000 customers, making more the 31,000 coffees and surviving three COVID lockdowns.

“The most rewarding part of owning the cafe has been the relationships we have built over the last few years,” she said.

“Not only have we made great friends in some of our customers, but we have felt so incredibly lucky to have received the support we’ve had from our families and close friends throughout this adventure, we would be nothing without the people we have around us.”

Kahma Coffee first opened in June 2023, after owner Tia decided to launch her own brick-and-mortar store, which sold both coffee and her famous doughnuts she previously sold through Soma Espresso Bar.

The shop is named in honour of her daughters Kahtia and Marsha.

Jessie and Cody said in their post announcing the store’s sale “while we can’t yet release what aaron & tia’s plans are for the business, we can rest assured knowing that we’re handing over the reins to the best team possible”.

“They are super passionate about the industry, have huge plans for the next few years and are sure to bring even more excitement to the city.”

Bloom Eatery and Espresso Bar will continue trading as normal until March 28.

Jessie and Cody said the past few years of running the business have been an incredible experience, allowing them to meet “so many amazing people along the way”.

“This is not a goodbye, just a ‘see you round’,” the girls ended their post with.
