He is 95 years old and living in a nursing home. STORY: The depression of the 1930s and the World War II stifled immigration of English people to Australia. However, around 1947 the state and federal governments developed large-scale immigration schemes. Among these was the Ò10 pound pomÓ scheme where it cost adult migrants 10 pounds for their passage to Australia and five pounds for children.
