An elderly husband and father has died almost a week after he was involved in a tragic crash in the state’s Mid North that also killed his wife and daughter.

John Clark died on Monday after fighting for his life at the Royal Adelaide Hospital since October 31.

Mr Clark’s wife, Cynthia Clark, 84, and daughter Jacquie, 54, were killed almost instantly when their Honda Civic collided with a van at the intersection of Templeton Rd and Blyth Rd at Everard Central, near Blyth, about 5.20pm.

Snowtown Golf Club president Matti Wilson said he was shocked when he received a call on Wednesday morning to tell him the Clarke family had been involved in the horror crash.

“It’s a real kick in the butt when it happens to someone you know,” he said.

“They were good community members, heavily involved in the golf club and we still see them a couple times a year.”

Last week, Superintendent Darren Fiekle said that the community would be devastated by the loss of the Clarke family members.

“It’s an absolute tragedy,” he said.

“The Clare community and the surrounding districts are going to feel the ripple affect on this particular tragedy.

“Losing two members of one family is almost unfathomable. It’s going to rock some people no doubt about that.

“It serves as a reminder to people in regional areas that they need to be ever vigilant on these roads.”

The 28-year-old driver of the van suffered minor injuries and has been charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was bailed and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on January 17.

His 26-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was also flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

There have been 97 lives lost on the state’s roads this year.
