Former youth worker Shawn Mitchell Humphreys charged with indecent assault of 15-year-old

An ex-youth worker from Port Adelaide has been released on bail after he was charged with the indecent assault of a 15-year-old.

A Port Adelaide man has been released on bail with strict conditions after facing court charged with indecently assaulting a 15-year-old.

Shawn Mitchell Humphreys appeared at Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday after he was arrested on Tuesday.

Mr Humphreys was granted supervised bail with strict conditions, despite police prosecutors opposing it.

Mr Humphreys, 31, of Port Adelaide has been charged with making a child amenable to sexual activity, indecent assault and gross indecency.

The strict bail conditions include that the accused have no contact with the alleged victim or a person under the age of 18, must hand over all social media accounts and technology to authorities and must not perform any child-related work.

A Facebook page belonging to Mr Humphreys said he was a former youth worker at MacKillop Family Services from 2016 to 2019.

The page also states Mr Humphreys previously worked as a youth care worker at Anglicare Victoria.

Court documents obtained by The Advertiser indicate police will allege the two counts of indecent assault, as well as the other alleged offending, occurred between April 20 and April 21 of this year.

Mr Humphreys will next appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court in November.
