A house in the state’s south east has been destroyed resulting in a damage bill of $300k

A house in the state’s south east has sustained $300k worth of damage after a fire ripped through it in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A house has been totally destroyed in the state’s South East after a fire ripped through it in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Firefighters rushed to the Butler St home at 6am on Sunday following reports the house was on fire.

23 Country Fire Service firefighters, from six fire trucks, attended the scene with police and paramedics.

Police confirmed they attended the scene and that the house was vacant at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread to neighbouring properties.

The fire reportedly caused an estimated $300,000 worth of damage.

Fire cause investigators are expected to attend the scene later today.
