When we asked for your favourite SA hairdressers, we were blown away by the support for hairdressers from across the state.

After more than 2000 of your nominations and 1600 votes we’ve found SA’s best hairdresser.

Melissa Bode of Bode Hair Lounge took out the top spot with her “clean air” salon attracting the support of hundreds of clients.

Ms Bode was nominated by Alysha Rhodes, who crowned the King William Road stylist as delivering the best blonde in Adelaide.

“Best customer service and their sustainable and eco-friendly salon are top of their class,” she said.

After a tough year of COVID restrictions and an eight-week closure, Ms Bode said the win was welcome positive news.

“It’s quite flattering and nice to know my clients think of me like that,” Ms Bode said.

After starting in the industry as a fresh-faced 17-year-old, Ms Bode has spent more than 16 years working with some of her clients.

“Some people have been with me since I was 17 and I’ve had most of my other clients for at least 10 years,” she said.

“I really value relationships and I love that my clients have been coming to me for that long and trust me as well.”

They have since transformed it into one of Adelaide’s few “clean air” salons after noticing the impacts of some chemicals on clients.

“We did some research and went for the cleanest products at the time and we culled everything we had and went all natural from there,” Ms Bode said.

“It’s about our values and health and being able to look after people’s health as well.

“Everything we source we think about that first and we don’t bring anything on unless it ties in with what we’re trying to do.”

Klemzig hairdresser Nadia Prisk was voted second in the poll, followed closely by Jane Adams of Jane Adams Hair.
