A man allegedly supplied children drugs before sexually abusing them – including asking them to defecate on him – a court heard.
Mark Vernon Anderson, 54, told police he did not know how a bag of faeces ended up in his sink, as allegations of his strange fetish have been aired to the court.
Opening Mr Anderson’s trial in the District Court on Thursday, Rob Walker, for the prosecution, told the court Mr Anderson was living in a CBD unit at the time of the alleged offending.
“The complex attracted a variety of people, including street kids who did not maintain a regular place of residence,” he said.
The court heard three children, including a 14-year-old boy, his girlfriend and their friend became frequent visitors to Mr Anderson’s house between June and September 2020.
Mr Walker said Mr Anderson allegedly supplied drugs to the trio – including meth, MDMA and marijuana – and indecently assaulted the boys.
“On other occasions (the 14-year-old) will say the accused asked him to defecate, whether on the accused or on a plate,” Mr Walker said.
The court heard Mr Anderson told the alleged victim “age was just a number” and asked him to engage in sexual acts.
Mr Anderson, of Adelaide, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including supplying drugs to a child, maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child and attempting to incite or procure a child to commit an indecent act.
Police attended Mr Anderson’s unit in September, 2020 and found a bag of faeces in the bathroom sink – to which Mr Anderson said he did not know how it got there.
The court heard Mr Anderson admitted to knowing the children but denied sexually abusing them or supplying them drugs.
Mr Walker told the court Mr Anderson’s electronic devices were searched and police found material showing his “sexual fetish” involving faeces and child exploitation material.
A series of messages on Grindr – a gay dating app – revealed Mr Anderson speaking about exchanging money or gear (meth) for sex and his sexual preferences for faeces, the court heard.
The trial before Judge Emily Telfer continues.
