A Barossa Valley winery has lodged plans and first-look pictures for four new tourist accommodations, a function centre and a cellar door – framed around a large gum tree.

Documents lodged with Plan SA show Triple Creek Wines in Seppeltsfield are looking to build two new venues to cater to a maximum of 150 guests on the 17.5 hectare block on Jenke Rd.

A purpose built function space designed to cater to 75 people with airlocking entrance and exit doors will be built alongside a new cellar door.

An arborist was brought in to assess keeping the existing Red Gum tree central to the development and outlined in their report it was “unlikely” to suffer adverse effects.

The report later said the installation of irrigation as part of the garden bed was likely to “enhance” the tree’s root zone conditions.

The plans describe the second building as a more traditional cellar – where wine maturation occurs – with the capacity to host events as well.

Triple Creek will sell its on site produced Shiraz, Merlot and Mataro vineyard wines inside the cellar door alongside wine tastings and simple food serves including cheeseboards.

The cellar door will also host events up to six times within the calendar year.

Four accommodation pods are proposed, each to be fitted with a queen-sized bed, bathroom, living area and kitchenette.

The plans said the accommodation would not be used as permanent or private dwellings.

The entire venue will be serviced by 60 carparks laid out across the gravel driveway, with designated spaces for buses and coaches.
