Police investigating alleged Evanston Park assault of psychologist

Police investigating the brutal attack of a beloved veteran Gawler psychologist allegedly found a cache of guns at the accused man’s house.

Police fire lethal home-made guns

A man accused of carrying out a violent attack on a popular Gawler psychologist allegedly kept a stash of crudely fashioned guns, a court has heard.

Bower man Kevin Gabriel Blumson, 34, on Monday appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on charges of assault that causes harm, damaging property, firearms offences and refusing to answer questions put by police officers.

EDITOR'S NOTE: On November 1, all charges aside those relating to firearms offences were dropped. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges and next faces court later in December.

The dropped charges relate to the alleged bashing of Evanston Park based psychologist Roger Wright in December last year.

When Mr Blumson was arrested, the court heard, his home was searched and found to contain two bastardised firearms.

A police prosecutor told the court one of those was a crudely-fashioned pneumatic nail gun that had been converted to be used as a gun, and a one-time imitation firearm which had also been altered.

According to court documents, Mr Blumson was allegedly not licensed to own the guns, and had contravened a section of the state’s firearm act.

Through his lawyer, he told the court other people had keys to his home, knew where he spare key was, and the guns could have belonged to them.
