Gawler’s ‘jewel’ and community favourite breakfast spot, Java Hut Cafe, is up for sale
It’s an icon of the Gawler main street, but now this cafe has hit the market as its current owners say goodbye after more than 20 years.

One of the most iconic cafes and “a jewel in the local hospitality industry” in Gawler is up for sale.
According to an online sale listing and social media post by Elders Real Estate Gawler, “the successful purchaser inherits a legacy of quality and a strong customer base, built up over 20 years* of trading at this envious location in Gawler’s main street”.
“The Java Hut is a business synonymous with Gawler and a jewel in the local hospitality industry, offering a loyal clientele, a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, and a diverse menu,” the post reads.
The post made the announcement to the community on Wednesday morning, and locals shared their disbelief.
Rosemary Lynch wrote that she “can’t believe the news.”
“Oh no not Java Hut. The staff and the food are the best cafe in Gawler.”
Kerry Lancaster shared, “I’m so sad. I don’t know what I will do now.”
Claudia Rose wrote that the cafe was her and her dogs’ favourite place to get breakfast.
According to the listing, any new owners would be “continuing the current trusted recipe for success” and the staff are “ready to support new ownership”.
The Java Hut and Elders Real Estate declined to comment.
