Arrest warrant issued for Seasonal Garden Cafe owner Silvia Hart for failing to attend court hearing

The owner of a popular Hahndorf cafe and wedding venue — already facing a legal bid to wind up one of her companies — is now facing arrest for a different court matter.

The Seasonal Garden Cafe owner Silvia Hart says she is not aware of an arrest warrant against her.

An arrest warrant has been issued against the owner of popular Adelaide Hills cafe and wedding venue after she failed to attend a court hearing over unpaid wages.

The Advertiser can reveal that the Adelaide Magistrates Court issued the warrant against Seasonal Garden Cafe owner Silvia Hart on June 7.

It was triggered after Ms Hart ignored a summons to attend a hearing three days earlier at the Mt Barker Magistrates Court involving a former employee who took action against her ex-boss seeking unpaid entitlements following her resignation last December.

The court action came after Ms Hart failed to meet an agreed deadline to compensate her former colleague.

The employee, who worked at the Hahndorf cafe for three-and-a-half years and requested anonymity, said the amount of the debt was confidential.

She declined to comment on the specifics of the dispute but said that she was separately owed $14,000 in superannuation.

When asked to respond to the issuing of the warrant, Ms Hart said “that’s the first I’ve heard of it”.

“The police know where I live. Please leave me alone,” she said.

The Advertiser reported on Tuesday that a company linked to Ms Hart is facing liquidation over a $55,000 debt to Pooraka-based fruit and vegetable wholesaler AMJ Produce.

AMJ Produce secured a judgment debt against the firm Maerhuev on May 2 this year and launched a winding-up application of the company after Ms Hart failed to comply with a statutory demand requiring she pay the debt within 21 days of the court order.

The Advertiser revealed in January that AMJ Produce had sued Maerhuev. Ms Hart is sole director and shareholder of the company.

Ms Hart had declined to say publicly if the liquidation would have any impact on her business.

Advertiser.com.au understands she has privately advised customers the Seasonal Garden Cafe was not at risk in any legal proceedings.
