A new McDonald’s restaurant is in the works for a booming Adelaide Hills town.
A PlanSA development application reveals Mount Barker is set for a second McDonald’s restaurant near land that has already won approval for a new shopping centre development, as the growing city continues to expand.
The location of the new store is just south of the new Aston Hills, where a new shopping centre opened just weeks ago.
If approved by the Mt Barker Council assessment panel, the new restaurant would be on Wellington Road with an access point on Heysen Boulevard.
The new McDonald’s would include a single storey restaurant complete with the McCafé and drive through takeaway facilities.
The proposed building has a floor area of 480-square metres with an eating capacity will of 78 seats, complete with McDonald’s customary play-place area for younger children.
According to the development application, McDonald’s restaurants of the size proposed provide employment opportunities for up to 100 people on a full and part-time basis.
In November, the Mount Barker District Council released figures this week showing the local government area has had its second-biggest growth year on record, hot on the heels from its biggest financial year growth in 2020-21.
