A new retail precinct in the booming Adelaide Hills population will open its doors in Mount Barker tomorrow, March 15.
The Aston Hills Shopping Centre – in the centre South Australia’s fastest growing region – will include a Drakes Supermarket and Homestead Meats but isn’t limited to retail with Schnithouse Australia, Rachael’s Hair Creations and Snap Fitness listed as opening day tenants with more specialty shops to follow.
The centre is located next to the Summit Sport Park with direct access from the freeway and the developer says the location will allow the precinct to service the entire Hills region, from Strathalbyn to Stirling.
Drakes – the anchor tenant – will occupy 2996-square metres of the 6600m2 centre and Drakes Supermarkets director John-Paul Drake said his supermarket chain expanding to the Adelaide Hills had been a long time coming.
“Our customers have been begging for a Drakes store in the Hills and we had been looking for quite some time for the right location,” he said.
“At Drakes, we don’t want to just sell groceries; we want to be part of the local community – and the village lifestyle that the Aston Hills precinct offers matches our core values to a tee.
“This is one of the most carefully-planned centres we’ve had the fortune to be a part of – from plenty of extra-wide carparking to easy access from the freeway, it’s all been designed to make shopping a stress-free experience.”
The new centre has been built by South Australian-owned property developer Lanser and managing director Jason Green said he was “proud to be a part of the Mount Barker community”.
“We hope that people will see the extra mile our team has gone to deliver a beautiful new retail experience for everyone,” he said.
“We are thrilled to be working together with Drakes who is another passionate South Australian business, and we share the same values about delivering quality and convenience to our community.”
Unique features of the centre include electric car charging stations, a rooftop solar system and the centre will have 271 car parks.
The public are invited to a Family Fun Day event featuring music, entertainment, games and prizes at the Aston Hills Shopping Centre on April 22 from 11am to 2pm to celebrate the official launch of the precinct.
