It’s not often high school students leave knowing what their career will be, but for South Australia’s best chiropractor, he knew he had found his calling.
Adam Floreani of Bayside Sport & Health Clinic, Glenelg was recently named SA’s best chiropractor as a part of the Messenger’s best of series.
Mr Floreani, who is the clinic’s director, said he always knew his passion was in chiropracting.
“I was in about year seven to be honest,” Mr Floreani said.
“I’m lucky enough to have a lot of family members who are chiropractors and I grew up playing a lot of sport.
“I kept coming back to chiropractic treatment because that’s where I found to have had the best results.”
Mr Floreani went on to study in New Zealand and graduated from Murdoch University, Perth in 2010 where he received the Sports Chiropractic Graduate Award.
“Freshly 18, I was away from my friends and family and had to put in a lot of work to get where I am today,” he said.
“I said to myself if I can’t be an athlete, I knew I wanted to work with them and this was the path that would lead me there.”
Recently accredited as a sport and exercise chiropractor, Mr Floreani is proud to see the work of all chiropractors noticed after battling the treatment’s credibility.
“Chiros struggled for so many years back in the 70s and 80s to prove themselves,” he said.
“Now it takes at least five years to become a university-trained chiropractor and the course is very comprehensive,” he said.
“Everything we do we back up with research and we back up with the latest techniques and we are very big on rehabilitation and getting patients to actively look after themselves rather than relying on treatment.
“It’s been really nice to see chiropractors leading the research.”
