Ugly Adelaide Houses: the Instagram page calling out Adelaide’s most questionable abodes
From unibrow-inspired awnings to a tennis star’s former home, some of Adelaide’s “questionable abodes” are proving that beauty is in the eye of the homeowner.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder – or, in the case of this Instagram page, the homeowner.
Ugly Adelaide Houses, run under the moniker Frank Gehrysh – most likely a nod to American-Canadian architect Frank Gehry – describes itself as “your guide to questionable abodes on Kaurna land”.
While the page has just 3000 dedicated followers, it was recently picked up by global viral content publisher Bored Panda.
The locations of the homes are not listed, but a few honourable mentions do speak for themselves – including tennis star Lleyton Hewitt’s former West Lakes abode, which sold for $2.65m in 2020.
With clever captions calling out awnings, interiors and everything in between, the page has shared more than 380 posts since 2015.
