SA Skydiving has partnered with the Wallaroo Holiday Park to offer thrill seekers a “very unique” and “intense” experience overlooking the Spencer Gulf.
For those brave enough to take to the skies, the holiday park will offer a discounted rate for any jumpers – with SA Skydiving manager Matt Teager hoping to “support some of the local businesses”.
Mr Teager – who has done nearly 4000 dives – said the new location was an “absolutely stunning place”.
“Last time we were there was in February and I actually proposed to my now-fiancee on a sunset skydive on the Saturday,” he said.
“Personally, it holds a bit more of a personal and special value, which is also a testament to the actual location itself – it was beautiful enough for me to even consider doing that there.
“We’ve actually jumped Wallaroo beach three times already with a tandem skydiving offering and the locals love it, the caravan park love it and council love it.”
Skydivers will enjoy free-fall speeds of up to 220km/h from heights starting at 15,000ft, with prices ranging from $359 upwards.
Each jump includes a comprehensive briefing, equipment and a tandem skydive with an expert instructor.
Group packages and gift vouchers can also be purchased, with bookings now open.
Mr Teager acknowledged skydiving “wasn’t for everyone”, but encouraged people to give it a go.
“I guess it’s an experience that almost anyone can do,” he said.
“It definitely gets the adrenaline pumping and then once we get to a certain height we open the parachute and that’s almost a complete juxtaposition. It’s slow, calm and peaceful, and we get to take in all of the stunning views for five or six minutes.
“It’s an experience of two parts in that we get the big rush of the free fall and then peace and serenity of flying a parachute around.
“For some people, this is the only time they’ll go skydiving in their life so we have a responsibility to them, to introduce them to the sport as best we can and make sure they have the best experience possible. It never loses its shine.”
Bookings and accommodation can be made via the SA Skydiving and Wallaroo Holiday Park websites respectively.
