A total of nine Virgin flights to and from Adelaide Airport were cancelled on Saturday, only two weeks after similar disruptions from the airliner.
Adelaide Airport confirmed that five flights departing from Adelaide were cancelled, including two flights to Sydney, two to Brisbane, and one to Perth.
Another three flights arriving from Sydney were grounded and another from Perth.
A virgin spokesperson blamed the cancellations on “weather and operational reasons”.
“We regret the inconvenience this has caused our passengers and we are working hard to recover guests impacted,” the spokesperson said.
“We are in the process of reaching out to guests directly with their recovery options.”
Virgin was unable to tell The Advertiser at this stage how many people had been affected “as our team who look after that data are focused on the operation”.
Four other flights from Jetstar and Qantas were also cancelled.
Two weeks ago, a pair of Virgin flights were also cancelled with some passengers given only ten minutes’ warning before boarding time.
