One of Australia’s most popular low-cost airlines is set to offer thousands of cheaper fares and hundreds of new direct flights between Adelaide and Bali next year.

Between late March and October, Jetstar will add more than 55,000 low-cost tickets, and an additional 240 direct flights to their schedule.

Jetstar executive manager Jenn Armor said it was a good time for travellers to plan ahead as the route would be in high demand.

“Bali is as popular as ever for South Australians looking for an affordable and convenient escape,” she said.

“To support strong demand on the route, we’ve added more than 55,000 low fares seats on 240 new direct flights between Adelaide and Bali next year.

“With fares available for just $239, it’s a great time to plan ahead and lock in a tropical escape over the cooler months in Adelaide.”

Jetstar’s additional flights will provide two direct return services a day from Adelaide to Denpasar on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday over the eight months.

Prior to the scheduling change, Jetstar operated one direct return service a day.

Adelaide Airport managing director Brenton Cox said Jetstar’s move was welcome news.

“Jetstar has been a great supporter of Adelaide Airport through its Bali service and we’re excited to welcome additional flights for holiday makers,” he said.

“We know there is significant pent-up demand for South Australians wanting to head to Bali, and this creates more capacity and more choice of flights for our customers.”

From Thursday, holiday-makers can book flights, with one-way fares available from $239.

Jetstar has also added three extra flights a week between Adelaide and Perth over the Easter and April school holiday peak, bringing the total to 10 flights per week, offering 6500 new seats on the route.

The extra capacity comes as the airline gears up for its busiest Christmas on record in Adelaide, with more than 400,000 people expected to travel in and out of the city over December and January.

During the holiday period, Jetstar will operate more than 2100 flights in and out of Adelaide.

The busiest travel days are expected to be December 20, Boxing Day and January 5.
