Beloved holiday getaway West Beach Parks has a new name after the state’s biggest holiday park teamed up with Discovery Parks in a new partnership.
“Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks” – appropriately launched on the first day of summer – comes as bookings for February are up 15 per cent, indicating a record-breaking tourism season ahead.
The partnership between West Beach Parks and Discovery Parks includes branding rights and access to more than 750,000 Australians who book annually through Discovery Parks and G’day Parks.
West Beach Parks will maintain ownership and management of Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks, which was recently crowned best holiday park for the second consecutive year at the South Australian Tourism Awards.
Discovery Parks is a South Australian-based operator of holiday parks and resorts with more than 90 destinations around the nation and is part of the G’day Parks network of more than 330 holiday parks.
West Beach Parks chief executive Kate Anderson said: “It’s great to be opening our holiday park under the Discovery Parks brand on the first day of what is expected to be a record summer season.
“Early bookings for 2025 suggest we will surpass the number of 10,095 guests staying at our park in January and February, bringing in much-needed tourism dollars to our state and local community.”
Discovery Parks chief executive Grant Wilckens said the partnership forms part of the group’s long-term commitment to South Australian tourism and follows recent major investments in key tourism destinations including Wilpena Pound, Goolwa, Clare, Coffin Bay and Hahndorf.
“Backed by the combined customer reach of our brands, we have a fantastic opportunity to grow our share of the holiday market and drive further visitation into SA,” he said.
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said the partnership is perfectly timed to leverage the procession of major events held in Adelaide over summer.
These include the Test Match at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide International, 25th anniversary of the Santos Tour Down Under, LIV Golf Adelaide in February then on to the Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival, and WOMADelaide.
Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks can accommodate 3000 guests across 338 caravan and tent sites, 132 self-catering cabins, six glamping Eco Tents and a three-bedroom beach house.
Facilities include a heated lagoon-style swimming pool, new $1.8m play space, outdoor movie area with big screen, games room, billiards room and a new, licensed kiosk.
