‘This is going to change our lives’: Prospect couple wins $8m in Oz Lotto

A hardworking Adelaide couple have become instant multi-millionaires – right in the middle of their normal morning “madness”.

A Prospect couple were stunned when they found out they’d won $8 million in Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw.

The duo’s winning 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app.

The husband was in the middle of the morning “madness” on Wednesday when he noticed he had a few missed calls.

Upon checking his voicemail, he discovered someone from The Lott had left him a message and realised they must be calling with good news.

However, nothing could’ve prepared him for when an official from The Lott informed him he and his wife had just won $8m.

“Oh my god! That’s insane!” the stunned man cheered when he was told the news.

“I saw I had a few missed calls from you, and when I listened to your voicemail, I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way someone from The Lott has called me for no reason. There must be good news coming’.

“I cannot wait to tell my wife the news – she’s going to explode with happiness.”

The man said he and his wife have been working incredibly hard for the past few years and $8m will completely change their lives.

“This prize is beyond a life-changing amount and I don’t think it’s going to sink in for a while,” he said.

“After years of working very long hours, I think it’s time for us to take a break and a holiday.”

The man said he and his wife were looking forward to spending some of their winnings on an overdue break and were excited to share the new fortune with family members doing it tough.

“I’ve always dreamt of helping others too. I have some family doing it really tough at the moment so I’ll definitely be sharing the prize with them,” he said.

“We’ll be celebrating this win for a long time to come! Thank you!”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1589 on Tuesday 30 July 2024 were 43, 9, 42, 27, 29, 40 and 25 while the supplementary numbers were 45, 24 and 35.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 252 so far in 2024, including 16 won by SA Lotteries customers.
