The Pink Stuff: I tried the cult cleaning product and it is a game changer

We've all seen the reviews and the viral videos, but does it live up to the hype? We put it to the test.

Top cleaning hacks that will make your life easier

We've all seen the reviews and the viral videos on The Pink Stuff cleaning products, but do they live up to the hype? We put it to the test.

Confession: I am not a cleaning guru.

I am not even a very clean person in general (you'll see this confirmed when you see a photo of my gross oven door when you scroll down). But even us non-cleaners have been unable to avoid seeing the hype around the cult cleaning product The Pink Stuff.

The hype

The Pink Stuff is said to be super-tough on stains all while using 99 percent natural cleaning particles.

The company claims it can clean: tiles, glass, paintwork, outdoor furniture, cooktops, ovens, pans, door handles, sinks, baths, showers, BBQs, car wheels and even sneakers.

Actual cleaning guru Mrs Hinch raves about the stuff and you can't scroll through TikTok at the moment without seeing someone doing some Pink Stuff related crazy cleaning trick. So now that it's finally available for sale in Australia, I decided to try it out myself and see if it can live up to the hype.

The dish test

This is one I saw on TikTok and looked seriously too good to be true, so I tried it out on some ratty old Kmart plates I had hanging around.

The video said that you just add a layer of Pink Stuff to your scratched up plates, leave it for 10-15 minutes then come back and scrub it off.

So that's what I did!

Left it for about fifteen minutes and came back and gave it a good scrub with a Scrub Daddy sponge (good for tough marks apparently).

I was very sceptical that this was going to do anything, honestly, I'd always thought those marks were worn away paint or scratches, I had no idea you even could get rid of them.

But as I scrubbed, lo and behold, the marks came easily off. Mind. Blown.

Both of them came out clean and shiny and basically looked like they were brand new. I then messaged photos of them to everyone I knew like a dork. But everyone was suitably impressed too.

The second test is a shame-filled one

Hello, my name is Nina and I don't clean my oven door very much. I close it and pretend it doesn't exist, ok Brenda? It's a pandemic, I've had bigger problems, get off my case.

Now that the self-flagellating portion is done, I'd like to reveal to you... My oven.

Now this one was something I was positive wasn't going to work, that stuff is burnt on there. But knowing it has been called a miracle, I still whacked on a thick layer and crossed my fingers.

Now, after one layer, leaving it then scrubbing it down, it did indeed take a lot of the stains off, but definitely not all of them. So I chucked some more on and left it again.

And there you have it, two layers of pink stuff two short scrubbing sessions and it's made a world of difference. It's still not perfectly clean, but you saw the before right? Even this level is pretty amazing.

My verdict

I gotta say, this stuff definitely seems to live up to the hype! And, it's so cheap, at just $6.95 for a tub, I'll definitely purchase it again as well as checking out the other products in the line.  10/10!
