South Australia’s first ever 24/7 tanning studio

SA officially has its first around-the-clock tanning studio and we’ve sent our own test subject in to try it out. See how she rated her first experience.

When Chloe Neil was a teenager she would travel around Adelaide at night spray tanning clients to support her baby son.

Now, Ms Neil, who recently had another two children, is scouting a new location for a second tanning studio only two weeks after opening her first 24/7 permanent location.

“It’s been an amazing response from pretty much everyone,” the 34-year-old said.

“People are travelling quite a substantial way to come to us.”

The Tan Club Co, which opened on May 22 on O’Connell St in North Adelaide, is South Australia’s first 24/7 tanning studio.

The Gawler East mum said being open all the time meant she was able to accommodate people who had been left behind by the traditional tanning industry including shift workers and adult entertainment workers.

Fitted with one tanning booth, it is also completely contactless, unless a client requests a tanning technician to help operate the booth.

“We’ve found from people that the fact it’s contactless has been more enjoyable than we though it would be,” Ms Neil, who has been tanning people for 14 years, said.

“You don’t have to have the small talk … sometimes when people are having downtime and they just can’t be bothered talking to someone they don’t have to.”

The Advertiser sent speech pathologist Amelia Griffin to the newly opened studio to try out the contactless tanning booth.

“Initially I had some concerns about not having someone to assist me, fearing that I might end up like Ross did in that memorable episode of Friends,” she said.

“However, it quickly became evident that it was nearly impossible to make a mistake, making that episode even more absurdly funny.

“The contactless feature and 24/7 availability offered the freedom and flexibility to tan whenever I had the time, which is especially beneficial for individuals with demanding work schedules.

“I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit to The Tan Club Co.”

The studio operates through an app where clients book their appointments and come to the store which opens using bluetooth technology.

Clients can sign up for weekly, fortnightly or unlimited memberships. Weekly memberships entitle clients to one tan a week for $29.95, fortnightly clients can receive a tan every two weeks for $39.95 while unlimited members pay $129.95 a month for an unlimited amount of tans each month.

The Tan Club Co also accepts casual clients for $48 per tan.
