Meet this week’s 20 Little Legends finalists! From a young race-walker’s journey to gold to a junior footy player’s 100-game milestone, scroll through our gallery and read why they’ve been nominated.
2/21SA Little Legend Sebastian Mazzone, 10, Henley Nippers, is a talented all-rounder. He recently represented Henley Surf Club in the State Nippers Championships where he collected a gold and silver, in relay teams, and finished 4th in the sprints. In the past 12 months, Sebastian has also made the Football SA (soccer) Skills Acquisition Program; the Development team (U11 team playing in an U12 competition) of Cumberland United and qualified for swimming at SAPSASA in a recent carnival. 3/21SA Little Legend Jai Birrell, 13, Tea Tree Gully Football Club, has played football from the age of 5. Despite all the interruptions to the 2020 season, Jai gave his all in every game, win or lose. Even though he is one of the smallest players on the field, he attacks the ball as hard as anyone and was awarded the ‘most consistent player’ trophy. Picture supplied.
4/21SA Little Legend Grace Taylor, 13, South Adelaide Panthers (basketball), is committed to training hard to get where she wants to go and, through hard work, has now made the South Australian U16 Metro Squad. 5/21SA Little Legend Lachlan Zammit, 13, Salisbury Little Athletics, has a passion for the walk, which is his favourite event. Every year he competes in the State Championship and this year he finally got the gold medal he has been chasing since he was 8. Picture supplied.

11/21SA Little Legend Aniela Jaworek, 8, Salisbury Cycle Speedway, has shown courage and determination after an accident at her cycle club where she fell and grazed her face. Aniela went on to win first prize the following day in a State Championship. Picture supplied.
12/21SA Little Legend Ewan Stubbings, 9, Starplex Swimming Club, got a personal best of 17.71 seconds to bring his 100 freestyle time down to 1:25.56, winning a gold medal in the process. Picture supplied.
13/21SA Little Legend Jett James, 11, Forbes Primary School has been playing basketball for several years now. He gets about one goal every game. He has played since Year 3 and has continued to play and love the sport. He is now in Year 6. Picture supplied.

15/21SA Little Legend Harrison Nys, 9, Gawler Gators (swimming), finds that sport doesn't come easy with co-ordination delays making life a little harder than for most. However, he has just swam in his first ever 50m backstroke race and did well with his turn. Congratulations Harrison! Picture supplied.
16/21SA Little Legend Lilliana Hoffman, 9, Mount Barker District Athletics Club, is in her third year of Little Athletics and first year of training with ACE track squad in Mount Barker. This season she has broken multiple club records. Her stellar preformance was again on show at the recent State Championships where she won gold in the 100m, 200m and 60m hurdles. 18/21SA Little Legend Harry Clarke, 8, Kensington Cardinals (football), pictured during his first season of football in which he “loved every minute playing with his friends”. Recognised for being a team player and always listening carefully to his coach, young Harry insisted on getting to training early to get some more practise and one on one tips. While the team had a tough season as many of the kids were playing in a higher age group, Harry never tired of trying to do his best every game. Picture supplied.

20/21SA Little Legend Amaya Fulton, 7, Marion Swimming Centre, has shown determination and dedication to move up to the final level in swimming at such a young age, and ‘has been nothing short of amazing’. The committed youngster gets 6:30am each Sunday for lessons, as well as having a week-day lesson. Grace was introduced to the pool and lessons when she was just 6 months old. Picture supplied.
