Podcaster and I Quit Sugar queen Sarah Wilson likens herself to Tolstoy, Flaubert, Orwell

She’s best known for making a motza encouraging people to quit sugar, but podcaster Sarah Wilson’s latest book will concentrate on the concept of ‘collapse’.

Sarah Wilson's big announcement

Leo Tolstoy. James Joyce. George Orwell. Honore de Balzac. Gustave Flaubert. And Sydney’s Sarah Wilson.

Podcaster and media identity Wilson has likened herself to the greatest authors of all time in a bizarre LinkedIn post announcing the release of her new book via online platform Substack.

“Historically, many impactful books were serialized before being published in full: War and Peace, Ulysses, Down and Out in Paris and London and works by Balzac and Flaubert. I’m going to take comfort in this …” Wilson wrote.

Wilson is best known for her I Quit Sugar books.

Her new book, based on the concept of “collapse”, will be released chapter by chapter, as opposed to a full body of work.

“I’m breaking away from traditional publishing methods and skipping the usual advance,” she wrote.

“The information in this book is urgent, and it needs to be shared immediately.

The first three chapters will be released next week.

Wilson also included a video — titled “Every now & then I have to radically mix things up” — explaining her decision and the urgency of the content. In it, she explains ‘collapse’.

“Collapse, for those of you who find it a new concept, is the decline of all of the things that we in our lifetimes have only known to go upwards,” she said.

“I want to help as many people as possible to be able to articulate the complex feelings that many of us are feeling so that we can feel less alone.”

Former magazine editor Wilson is best known for building her I Quit Sugar empire.

Since walking away from that in 2018, she has created a philanthropic trust and collaborated with charities; written books; and campaigned against people using gas in homes.

She also moved to Paris, and once claimed she had never owned a handbag.
