'Zero options for my girl': Mum points out common problem with toddler shorts

"What creeps are designing these clothes?" a viewer asked.

Why are we making toddler shorts different lengths for our boys and girl

In a recent Instagram post, a mum sparked outrage over the striking disparity in clothing options available for toddler boys and girls.

She went into a kids' clothing store to make a side-by-side comparison, and the footage really speaks for itself.

While the boy's shorts are knee-length, the girl's options are noticeably shorter.

"Disappointing"

Sharing with her 66k followers, Michaela Harter, a.k.a @modernmotherhoodnet, posted the clip titled, "Boy's shorts length vs. girl's shorts length."

She then places a pair of white love-heart-covered girl's shorts on top of the navy boy's ones, and there's a good few centimeteres extra on the boy's ones.

"Girls are sexualised even at 2T?"

The video has since gone viral and amassed a whopping 21 million views.

Fellow parents with similar gripes sounded off in the comments.

"Don't even get me started on toddler bathing suits; it’s so upsetting," read a top comment with 310,000 likes.

"What creeps are designing these clothes?" another asked.

"Girls are sexualised even at 2T?!" someone else asked.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that it wasn't just about the shorts' looks - there were practical considerations, too.

One commenter noted, "It’s about functionality. A child will be safer from the sun and ground and have an easier time playing in longer shorts than mini ones."

Then someone offered this quick solution for the mum: "Just get the boy ones."
