You don’t have to tell me you hate my child’s name, I can read it on your face

“This pretending to like it malarkey is awkward as hell,” mum Candy said in the clip.

Mum who makes personalised baby clothes shares unusual baby name requests

It hasn’t been long since Candy Gigi gave birth to her daughter, yet she’s already been bombarded with comments about the name she chose.

Since the British comedian welcomed her daughter into the world, she’s noticed that people have had very different reactions when she reveals her name, especially if they don’t like the chosen moniker.

While some have shared their admiration for the name choice, others haven’t been so polite.

Woman roasted choosing baby name that will 'ruin her child's life'

‘I wish it was socially acceptable to tell someone you hate their baby’s name’

Some people, who are “too polite to say they hate” Gigi’s baby name, have instead opted to show their real feelings with their facial expressions.

Taking to TikTok, the mum-of-two shared the hilarious ways she can tell someone actually hates the name she picked for her baby.

“How different people react to my baby daughter's name when they're too polite to tell me they hate it,” she captioned the video.

“Oh bless, what’s her name?” the hypothetical person asked the British mum as she cradled her newborn.

“Zazie,” Candy replied.

In response, the woman could only blink and furrow her brow, making “random noises to cover up her horror” at the sound of the name.

Another reaction she has recounted was when all a woman could do was repeat the name “over and over again to cover up her horror.”

Another woman claimed to love the name, repeatedly telling Candy it was a “lovely choice” when the British woman knew the truth.

“[The name] physically makes her sick,” Candy said, feigning throwing up every time she opened her mouth to say “how lovely” the name was.

Finally, one woman was “too disgusted” by the name Zazie that she couldn’t even respond. Instead, all she could was stand there with her mouth agape, trying to think of something to say.

But at least they’re trying to be polite, I guess?

Candy appreciated the attempted kindness, too. “Big love to all of these women for at least trying to hide the fact they think I’ve ruined my daughter’s life,” she captioned the clip.

Despite the failed attempts at being respectful about the name choice, Candy admitted she would rather have strangers share their true feelings rather than try to be polite.

“I would genuinely prefer it if I told someone my baby’s name and they were sick on me or the baby,” she said.

“This pretending to like it malarkey is awkward as hell.”

“As soon as they say, ‘Oh that’s different’, I know they hate it”

The video quickly went viral, with people around the globe sharing their own experiences with unusual names they’ve given their children.

“I remember these reactions from my eldest's baby days,” a parent wrote.

“My son’s name is a bit different and it's 100 per cent the old people that are horrified,” laughed another.

“My girl is called Hive, and some people aren’t quite sure, so I always interrupt and say ‘Like a bee Hive’, and they like it a bit more,” a third wrote.

“My son is called Reign, and I get this all the time,” a mum added.

“[As] soon as they say, ‘Oh that’s different’, I know they hate it.”

“My Daughter is called August, and members of my family decided together that they were going to call her by her middle name instead - Rose,” a comment read.
