'Ugliest name ever': People tell me I must hate my baby after hearing his name

A post on a popular forum is going viral for revealing "the ugliest name ever" that a couple called their son.

Trolls came out in full force, with many calling the name "horrendous" and claiming the parents must hate their son for naming him what they did.

In the NameNerdCirclej**k forum, user @floweringfungus posted a photo of a baby sweater with the name on it.

So what is this horrible moniker?

Dredge.

Yep, the baby boy's name is Dredge, as in the thing that cleans up mud and rubbish from the ocean.

"This name is straight-up mean," the user wrote.

And commenters all agreed, with one person saying, "DREDGE!? Oh my days."

Another wrote, "I want my child to be named in honour of filthy mud-scooping machinery."

Then one person exclaimed, "Did I really just read Dredge?! Like someone legit just named a baby Dredge?"

"That is the ugliest name I’ve ever heard anywhere, and those parents must hate that baby," one user claimed.

Meanwhile, this person had fun thinking up potential names for the boy's siblings. "This is my son, Dredge and his baby sister, Sludge," they said.

"It just makes me think of what they do to find dead drowned bodies," another reader commented. "That poor child. It's an awful name."

This person echoed, "Dredge? As in the police dredged the reservoir for a body?"

But others said it evoked a culinary connotation for them. "Dredge, like you dredge chicken in egg wash?" someone said.
