Tragic new details have emerged about the incident that killed world champion cyclist Melissa Hoskins outside her Adelaide home on Saturday night.

The 32-year-old mother-of-two died after she was struck by the family’s ute on Avenel Gardens Rd, Medindie, an inner-north suburb of Adelaide.

Her husband, former professional cyclist Rohan Dennis, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, driving without due care, and endangering life in relation to the fatal incident.

The Adelaide Advertiser reports police will allege Ms Hoskins jumped onto the car bonnet and grabbed at the door handle while Dennis was inside the car.

They will allege Dennis continued to drive the vehicle until his wife fell to the ground, and detectives believe she was dragged “some distance” down the street.

It is believed some of the incident was caught on CCTV cameras.

Authorities have seized Dennis’ $70,000 vehicle, which he is believed to have bought a year ago.

Investigators were seen checking under the parked car while fingerprint dust was observed on its bonnet.

It is so far unclear what sparked the incident, but police say investigations are ongoing.

Hoskins’ WA-based family were too distressed to comment as friends and family from the cycling world rallied around them.

Dennis has not entered a plea to his charges, which could carry up to 15 years in prison if he is found guilty.
