Teen leaves her parents stranded on an Island for good reason

"What precisely do they think you could have done? Kidnap the captain?"

6 things that you need to know before setting sail on a Disney Cruise

When travelling or just life in general, it's the parents who are enforcing rules and boundaries with their teenagers. But this family trip turned into Freaky Friday

An 18-year-old has admitted to leaving her parents behind on an island after they refused to get back to the ship on time during a cruise.

Before they left, the teenager warned her parents about their upcoming trip.

"I told my parents it was different and that if we went on excursions, we had to follow the schedule no matter what."

They went on their cruise, and the teen hoped her parents would obey the rules for once.

They didn't, so she decided to teach them a lesson.

"They are pissed at me for leaving them behind"

"It was a week-long cruise, and they would not head back to the ship when I said it was time to go. They were busy shopping and bargaining with the locals. I finally said that I was heading back to the ship. My mum waved me off.

"They missed the departure by 45 minutes. They got ahold of me through WhatsApp. They wanted to know why I didn't get the boat to wait for them," she continues.

"I wanted to scream that they were not going to inconvenience 3,998 people because two could not understand what a schedule was."

To catch up with the cruise ship, her parents had to fly to the next port and "it was expensive".

"They are pissed at me for leaving them behind. I don't know what I was supposed to do. They literally told me that they knew what they were doing."

The teen ended her post by saying her parents were making her miserable and she wished the whole trip had never happened.

"What precisely do they think you could have done? Kidnapped the captain?"

In the comments, she received a tidal wave of support, with many highlighting how entitled her parents were and questioning who the adults were on this trip.

"They are adults and need to be responsible for getting back on time. Which is something you have figured out in less than six months of being an adult. At least you don’t have to go on any more vacations with them after this," one user wrote.

"I expect they are just very embarrassed that an 18-year-old was smarter than them and are taking it out on them," another agreed.

"What precisely do they think you could have done? Kidnapped the captain? Staged your own drowning? You didn't abandon them; they abandoned you. Don't let them weasel word this around to being your fault in any way, shape or form!" a third strongly stated.

"Those ships wait for no one"

Several people pointed out that OP's parents are lucky they didn't stick around any longer.

"NTA. Your parents are acting entitled. Tell them you saved them the expense of a third ticket to the next port," one noted.

"You learned something from your education. Your parents should be proud that you’ve learned to be logical, realistic, and thoughtful of others (nearly 4K of them). To expect the cruise ship to wait for them is an arrogant, entitled, and prideful expectation," another added.

"OP, tell your parents to have a word with the captain so he can give them his number to tell him when they are going to be late," one user joked. "Seriously, OP, tell your parents to talk to the captain about deadlines, and no one delays the cruise ship from setting off. They are blaming you for their foolishness."

Finally, this sound advice came from one user: "Kid, show your parents this thread. Those ships wait for no one. Not even your special snowflake parents."
