Commuters on a Melbourne train did a double-take on their commute last weekend when they noticed one of the passengers looked different from the rest.

Storm the Labrador jumped on the 8:20 am train from Hoppers Crossing and travelled all the way to Flinders Street Station - a 33km trip that takes about half an hour.

“It was quite a trip!” Metro Traims shared on Facebook

The pooch was nonchalant as he walked around the platform before sniffing around the open train door.

Storm, who likely didn’t pay for a ticket, slowly walked onto the train and made his way to Flinders Street Station.

When the train driver spotted the pup, he was escorted out of the train before being handed off to another staff member at Flinders Street Station.

He was taken to the Lost Dog’s Home in North Melbourne.

“In paws-itive news, we were able to reunite Storm with his owners, who were visiting all the way from Sydney!” Metro Trains said in the post.

That morning, the family pooch broke free from their backyard and began his multi-kilometre adventure.

“He wanted an adventure!”

Before Storm was reunited with his family, the team at Metro Trains took him on an extra special tour of the office and the city.

The dog’s train ride struck a chord with people online, who were overjoyed to see him reunited with his family.

“That's hilarious,” someone exclaimed. “But at least he is home with his master!”

Some questioned whether he was a fare-evader. “I hope he had his Myki card!” someone joked. “He was doing a random ticket inspection,” another laughed.

“It would be the best day ever having this pooch jump on your train!” someone commented. “He wanted an adventure!” another wrote.

“This dog reviewing his experience: It’s a tube-like portal, filled with humans, that takes you to another world!” said another. “Highly recommend - Five stars.”
