Mum slammed for sharing the eye-watering amount she spent at Disneyland

One commenter said, "Rename this to 'How to do Disney with zero research and pay as much as possible," while another claimed they could "fly to Greece for half of this amount."

Mum shares eyewatering cost of Disneyland

We all know that every kid's dream is to go to Disneyland

And we also know that that dream comes at a hefty price.

It's a place where the only thing disappearing faster than your patience waiting in line is your hard-earned cash.

One mum decided to tally up the various costs she spent in a day here with her three kids to really drive this point home.

After adding up the eye-watering cost - she claimed the amusement park was "daylight robbery."

However, commenters were quick to point out that the mum could have "budgeted better" as she bought many non-essential things.

That's not to say that Disneyland isn't an expensive day out, but there are definitely ways to cut costs in some places...

Tickets, rides, food... oh my

Mumfluencer Summer Herring shared the clip with her 1.7 million followers and began by saying, "So here's how much we spent at Disney, day two of five."

Before they even walk into the park, the text on the screen reads: "Tickets + Lightning Lane $1363 (AUD)."

She then buys her kids some Disney-themed headbands for $203 before having a "mediocre" buffet breakfast for $349.

It's already racking up... quickly.

"Then we headed over to Toy Story Land and even with Lightning Lane, we still only got to ride one ride," she continued.

If you're not familiar with Lightening Lane passes, they basically mean you get to skip the queues, allowing for a shorter wait time.

We need to talk about the $1200 light sabres

After digging into some snacks that cost a small fortune (popcorn for $25 and ice cream for $39) she headed to Galaxy's Edge and bought her kids light sabres which cost a staggering $1254 in total.

"They also no longer hold them for you until the end of the day plus different airlines have different restrictions when flying home so we opted to ship them to us for an additional cost of $62," she added.

Apparently, every single ride had at least a 120-minute wait, so they only got to ride one ride in this section of the park as well.

She went on: "We then tried out the infamous blue and green milk," which came in at $42.32 then she spent $125 on lunch and funnel cakes for dessert cost $68.

A total of nearly $6000 for one day (out of five!)

We're still not done yet.

"Mobile-like quality" printed photos of the kids were $266 and fairyfloss and lollies were $39.

Then dinner at Planet Hollywood came in at a whopping $487.

Finally, the mum says: "Factoring in our nightly hotel rate of $1562 brings our total to $5890 for today."

Our wallets are hurting and we're not even there.

"Soooo many mistakes in the planning"

Users were absolutely gobsmacked at how much she spent and couldn't wait to share their thoughts.

"You spent $418 PER lightsaber???? I can't feel bad if you’re willing to do that," one pointed out.

Another said, "Rename this to 'How to do Disney with zero research and pay as much as possible."

A third added, "Soooo many mistakes in the planning. No reason to spend on food like that."

"You can do Disney wayyyyy cheaper than that," claimed a fourth.

Then one person claimed they could "fly to Greece for half of this amount."

The mum claps back in the comments

Others were more empathetic. "All the people complaining about how she is spending HER money that SHE works hard for she could spend it on whatever she wants," one commenter wrote.

Another defended Summer, saying, "We went last year as a family of four and spent close to $12k for five days. Smh."

Summer then added a follow-up comment, saying "I appreciate all the tips but I purposely wasn’t sparing any expenses. It’s my son's birthday weekend and also I wasn't interested in walking around with our own food."

She also added, "Everyone saying 'YoU diD iT wRoNg' - I knew EXACTLY what I was doing. I’m a credit connoisseur. I put this whole weekend on a brand-new AMEX and reached the threshold for 100,000 bonus points. I now have enough combined points to never pay for another trip in 2023!"

Summer also claimed that calling it 'daylight robbery' was a joke.
