Mum goes viral for admitting she 'doesn't want your Christmas cards'

Her polarising opinion got an equally polarised response.

This mum does not want your Xmas cards

If you're an annual Christmas card sender - do you ever stop to think about whether or not people actually enjoy receiving them? Or do you just send them dutifully every year out of habit?

Have you ever thought that they might just be cluttering up people's houses and ending up in the recycling a few weeks later?

Because according to one opinionated mum on TikTok, that's exactly what's happening.

The woman, Chanci, argued that it's time to bin this well-intentioned holiday tradition - because that's exactly where they end up anyway!

"I'm going to throw that sh*t in the trash*

She explained in a TikTok, which now has over one million views, "I was going to tell you since it's going to be Christmas and all. Don't send me a Christmas card.

"I'm going to throw that sh*t in the trash."

Then she goes into her justification... basically that they're cute, but they're still just clutter.

"I'm going to look at it. And Melissa, I'm sorry, you didn't know. I'm just now telling you, and you're all dressed for the occasion, and you all look precious. But I'm about to throw it in the garbage. I can't have that clutter lying around here, you know what I'm saying?" she continues.

So, you might be thinking - does she have an alternative? And the answer is yes!

"Send me a digital picture and say, 'Merry Christmas'," she says, before quickly adding, "No, don't do that either. Don't worry about it. I'll see you, you know? I'll see you. Don't send me a card."

"This one made me a little sad"

Her polarising opinion got an equally polarised response.

On the one hand, some people agreed with her...

"I'm the same! What am I meant to do with a bunch of cards every year? Seriously!" someone shared.

Another wrote, "Same, like no disrespect but I struggle to keep my own sh*t tidy, let alone other people sending me more stuff."

"I can't stand seeing the clutter," revealed a third.

But the vast majority said they were "hurt" by her opinion and tried to convince her to keep them.

"I will take alllll of the Christmas cards!! I love them," someone replied.

"Aww this one made me a little sad," someone else wrote. "I so look forward to everyone’s Christmas cards."

"I spent a lot of money this year on the cards with our pictures. I hope no one is throwing them away," admitted someone else.

Ways to display Christmas cards without your house looking cluttered

Then others shared the handy ways they use or display their cards to help reduce clutter.

"I punch a hole in the corner of all the photo cards I get and put them on a gold ring so it’s like a coffee table flip-through book," said one well-liked comment.

And a different woman shared, "I have a photo album for all the Christmas cards I get every year. I love getting them."

Then this person suggested the perfect compromise - "I hang all mine on a ribbon along the wall, and then throw them in the trash!"
