Aussie woman mortified by mum's 'embarrassing' Christmas tree decorations

"Put 'em to bed, mum," she captions the hilarious video of the 'priceless' items.

For most parents, Christmas is about the kids; even when the kids become adults.

It's not uncommon for many mums (especially), for example, to loving display the years of handmade Christmas craft their littlies brought home; as dining table centerpieces or tree decorations.

But while there's so much pride and joy and happy memories in those special items, not everyone feels the same way. And by "everyone" we mean the grown-up kids.

Which is why one young adult has made a TikTok about her mum's sentimental tree, with the brutal message over the footage: "When your mum still puts all the shit things you made in kinder on the tree."

Emily's video is brief, and begins with her poker face, then a glimpse of the tree, then close ups of angels and a Santa made by Emily at least more than a decade ago.

Emily clearly thinks the items, displayed in full glory on the baubled-up tree, are cringey. She captions the clip, "Put 'em to bed, mum."

It's no doubt a little bit of Chrissy humour - but the mums in the comments went to work to set Emily straight.

"You have no idea how special those are to mum 🙏," one wrote.

Another added, "You'll come to understand one day, those are her favourite ornaments."

And a third said, "I made an angel out of a shuttlecock when I was about 7. I'm 30 now and Mum still has it on the tree every year 😂."

But our favourite was this: "My nana still has a toilet roll Santa my dad made on the tree. He’s 58."

"Mum threw it away because it didn’t match"

Some viers sadly shared what happened to their holiday-themed craft:

"My mum did Christmas display windows for a department store, so she took Christmas a little too seriously...my paper plate angel didn’t make the cut."

"I used to put mine on the tree and mum would throw it away because it didn’t match."

Then this mum shared the most brutal take: "No - Those are back of the tree fillers and the oh sorry the dog ate it."

Now that's the spirit of Christmas - not!
