I woke up to the sound of a strange man talking to my 1yo daughter in her room

“We can hear our daughter just, like, grizzling in bed, the next minute, we just hear this man f**kin’ start talking to her,” Australian dad, Jay, says in the clip.

It was six o’clock in the morning when Poppy Radbone and her fiance, Jay, heard the sound of an unfamiliar voice in their daughter’s bedroom.

Woken by the sound of their one-year-old, Blossom, making funny sounds, it appeared as if someone was in there with her.

In a rush, the Australian parents entered the baby’s room to make a shocking discovery.

Aussie mum shaken after someone hacks into her baby's video monitor

Parents wake to the sound of a stranger in 1yo's bedroom

“Guys, oh my god, our baby monitor got hacked this morning,” the mum told her TikTok followers.

“Woke up to someone talking to our one-year-old on the f***ing camera.”

“We can hear our daughter just, like, grizzling in bed,” said her fiance, rapper Jay (AKA J-Milla). “The next minute, we just hear this man f**kin’ start talking to her.”

At first, the couple thought a man was standing in Blossom’s room and “looking over her,” making noises so loud they thought “someone was in the house.”

Jay’s fight-or-flight instincts suddenly kicked in, and he was ready to pounce on the intruder.

“I  f**king start s**tting myself, I get up with my little tummy hanging out,” he explained. “I boot the f**kin' door open. I’m like, ‘I’m ready to swing at this c***.”

(Yes, we can take a moment to appreciate this colourful description.)

But when they entered the nursery, there was no one in sight.

“Parents, be careful out there - cos people are hacking into cameras and watching”

Terrified and understandably shaken, Poppy asked her followers if they had experienced anything similar and how they could prevent future hacks from occurring.

“I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else, though,” she said. “It’s really scary.”

While filming the video, Poppy held the baby monitor in her hands. “We don’t know what to do. We’ve got a V-Tech.”

Jay issued a warning to other parents who have a baby monitor at home.

“Parents, be careful out there,” he cautioned. “‘Cos [people] are hacking into these things and watching.”

“This is such a common issue with Wi-Fi baby monitors”

In the week since the video was posted, it has amassed over 1.2 million views, with adults equally terrified for the well-being and safety of their children.

“This is scary,” a shocked parent wrote.

“Damn, I’ve heard of it happening in the US, but I guess I was naive thinking we were safe from it here!” an Aussie mum added.

Surprisingly, the issue was common for many, who had to switch theirs off once they sensed something was wrong.

“I got rid of our baby monitor when I could hear the conversation going on in the next house,” a mum said. “They also had a baby monitor. Freaked me out.”

“I could hear every word the neighbours were saying to each other,” another agreed.

“Yes, happened to me too,” a dad added. “Someone was watching it when I was in the room!”

“Someone did this to us with my 11-month-old daughter!” a scared parent recalled. “They were watching us in the hallway until we saw the blue light on the ring camera.”

Generally, parents were told to avoid using a baby monitor that relies on Wi-Fi, as it is vulnerable to such attacks.

“This is such a common issue with Wi-Fi baby monitors,” read a comment. “Get a baby monitor that doesn’t need Wi-Fi.”

“I have a non-Wi-Fi baby monitor -  I paid $99 at Kmart, and it has been great,” another mum said. “I can't stand the Wi-Fi ones, so many scary stories … honestly can’t.”
