I want this STD to be re-named so I can use it as a baby name

She insisted that she thought it sounded like a "beautiful girl's name."

Rules for visiting a newborn

Imagine saying to your child, "Chlamydia, come over here! Did you do your homework, Chlamydia?"

That's exactly the type of world one woman on the internet wants to live in.

A world free of the stigma around STDs (this can only be a good thing!) and a world where it's perfectly acceptable to name your child after one (not a good thing!)

However, this woman firmly believes that some really 'beautiful' names are wasted on STDs, going as far as advocating for a 're-naming' of one in particular in order to use it as her future child's name.

'They should call the STD something different'

The woman wrote in the r/unpopularopinions forum, "Chlamydia would make a beautiful girl name."

She added that she thought it sounded "great" and that "they should call the STD something different so we can finally start using it."

Then she joked, "Imagine playing chase with this kid. You wouldn't want to catch her."

'You could even call her Chlam for short!'

That final remark was enough to send the comment section into a frenzy, with everyone agreeing that the name just rolls off the tongue.

"This is my daughter Chlamydia, she has been itching to meet you," one person said.

Another wrote, "Can even call her Chlam for short!" while this person said that "Clammy" sounds even better.

"No lie, I knew a girl named Chlamydia. Poor thing went by Callie until a substitute teacher with no common sense or decency outed her in 7th grade," someone else revealed.

And then this man admitted, "My wife desperately wants to use it as a girl's name but knows it wouldn't be well received."

While another added this hilarious anecdote: "My mother was a labour and delivery nurse and she had to talk her young girl out of naming her daughter that. I don’t think she knew what it meant or maybe she did LOL."

Then others weighed in with other taboo words they believed would make great baby names including, dementia, malaria and syphilis.
