Christmas is one of the most stressful times of the year for parents.

Deciding what to buy your kids is one thing, but the real struggle starts when you try and find the budget for the gifts.

Mum-of-three Sinead was shocked when she asked her large online audience how much they spend on their kids’ Christmas gifts.

The mum, who lives in Yorkshire, confessed she spent nearly $10,000 on Christmas gifts for her three kids.

To make matters worse, she said these gifts quickly bored her offspring, giving her no choice but to tighten her belt this year.

Mum's fury after spending thousands on her kids for Christmas

Mum spent upward of $6,000 for her kids at Christmas

“This is normally what I’d spend per child,” she began.

“So last year, I must have spent…I’d say £3,500 to £4,000 on Christmas presents for these kids,” she explained in the video, which equates to roughly AUD$6,600 - $7,500.

Mum to three kids aged 13, five and three, Sinead explained she bought her kids gifts throughout the year and did plenty of double-takes after realising how much they wanted for their holiday gifts.

Her 13-year-old daughter doesn’t have a “main present” for Christmas. Instead, she gave her mum a list of 25 things, including luxury skincare from Drunk Elephant and cosmetics from P Louise.

“Is there gold in this [skincare] bottle? Nivea probably does the same thing,” she laughed.

Her five-year-old daughter Inayah received an iPad and a Barbie Dreamhouse, which retails for up to $400.

Luckily, her son Taige isn’t as fussed about the gifts and is the “cheapest child to buy for.”

“You could buy him a £2.99 stretchy worm from B&M and he’s buzzing,” she said.

To make matters worse, she said that two of her kids were “bored” while opening the myriad gifts on Christmas day.

“Taige got bored, like he couldn’t be ar**d opening the presents,” she admitted. “He opened about three or four things and got bored, same with Inayah.”

“It’s a lot of money!” she said in shock, clarifying she would be “reigning it in” this year.

“If you don't set a budget, it just sort of happens”

The clip quickly went viral, amassing nearly 200,000 views, with hundreds of fans shocked at the staggering cost of her kids’ toys.

But she had to clarify in a later clip that she did not, in fact, spend the exorbitant amount on each child - that was actually the total for her entire family.

She then hit back at haters who called her “entitled” and accused her of “raising monsters.”

“If you buy throughout the year, then you will know how things add up,” she argued. “You don’t realise how much you spend until you get it all out.”

Despite her being slammed for the amount she spent on her kid, others rushed to her defence.

“If you got the money, spoil them,” wrote a fan. “I know I would, they’re just mad your kids are grateful; [that’s] all that matters.”

“It doesn't even matter how much you spend on your kids,” said another. “All that matters Is you and your kids have a nice Christmas and enjoy yourselves.”

“I imagine buying for teenagers is so much because they have expensive taste,” read a third comment. “If you don't set a budget, it just sort of happens,” a woman added.
