From Royal to Luxury: These are the most popular baby names so far this year

Plus the rogue entry that has to be seen to be believed. Hint: it has something to do with the alphabet...

Woman wants to name her kid "Augie" pronounced "orgy"

Nameberry just announced the most popular baby name trends so far for 2023, and honestly, we called it.

Earlier this year, we predicted that one particular boujee name that was on the rise would take out the top spot, and IT DID!

Yep, that's right - 'Luxury' is the most popular girls' name so far this year.

Read on to find out what else is trending... including the equally as posh boy's name that took out the crown.

In their midyear report for 2023, Nameberry shared that shorter names seem to be in favour (think Iris and Jude) as do storybook choices (like Alice) and those with a Greek leaning (Persephone, Cassius, Orion..)

"Upscale word names" are also appealing to parents in 2023, as shown by the top boys' and girls' names.

Top boys' names

Nameberry identified 'Royal' as the most popular boys' name thus far. It takes over from 'Soren' which was previously in the top position.

According to the report, this on-trend name got a boost from the series Outer Range last year and has been high on people's radar ever since.

Two more names that are new on the list since this time last year are Oliver (a classic and popular name worldwide) and Aire (after Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott's son's name was announced in January.)
