It’s a huge weekend in Adelaide for sweet treats with two hugely popular Hutt St bakeries both hosting cult pop-ups – one a MasterChef fav.

A cult Mount Gambier bakery is heading to Adelaide this weekend as ScRoll Queen takes over Naughty Nannas Cookies on Hutt Street in a one-day pop-up takeover – but you’ll have to be quick.

For one day only on Saturday, the people of Adelaide will be able to grab ScRoll Queen’s signature ScRolls from Naughty Nannas Cookies on Hutt St, as the two businesses join forces to provide the city with double their usual delicacies.

And the sweet treats don’t end there, with artisan croissanteur and croissant confectioner Sugar Man – also in Hutt St – hosting a pastry menu by MasterChef favourite and dessert king Adriano Zumbo. Fans have been warned to “expect the unexpected” across both Saturday and Sunday.

Doors open at 9am Saturday and remain so until stocks run out. Both businesses will offer their best-selling ScRolls and cookies – as well as coffees and thick shakes.

Naughty Nannas’ owner and founder Bianca Mew said she was “so excited” to have ScRoll Queen take over her cult cookie store.

She reached out to ScRoll Queen’s Dylan McQueen when he launched a ‘Bring ScRoll Queen to Adelaide’ GoFundMe earlier this year, sharing his dream of one day expanding his two Mount Gambier stores into a nationwide franchise.

“When I first heard of Dylan starting the GoFundMe to come to Adelaide, I thought why not get him to come and take over Naughty Nannas for a weekend – it could be a cool collaboration that brings something fun and different for the dessert lovers of Adelaide,” Ms Mew said.

“We have similar branding and are both lovers of sweet treats so it just seemed like a no-brainer.”

Ms Mew said if the takeover was successful, they may repeat it.

The post on ScRoll Queen’s Facebook page announcing the Adelaide takeover was met with so much excitement Mr McQueen warned eager customers Saturday’s endeavour was “first come, first serve”.

“My two favourite treats in one place!” one person wrote.

“This is amazing! What time will you open so I can take time off work?” another asked.

“All you people in Adelaide, this is a must! They are the best scrolls. You will love them. So get down and try them, we absolutely love this shop in Mount Gambier,” a Mount Gambier local added.

Mr McQueen said he recommends people come in early “to avoid disappointment”.

“We’re super excited about this and can’t wait to be serving our fresh delicious product to Adelaide for the first time.”
