'Is this a thing?': Bluey scene confusing the hell out of fans

American viewers are scratching their heads over Bandit using the item and even Aussies have weighed in claiming they're also puzzled.

Bluey characters roll hotel luggage in shopping cart: genius or madness?

When it comes to Bluey, many fans have shared some wild theories over the years.

There is the one that Bandit and Chilli's occupations might suggest they are part of an international crime ring (disclaimer: they definitely aren't), Bandit is struggling with his mental health in the 'Stickbird' episode (hey, even dads have bad days!), and that Bluey is possibly neurodivergent (or maybe she's just a regular hyperactive kid?).

But there's one particular scene that is currently puzzling the hell out of viewers. And not just our mates abroad - Aussie viewers too!

Why is Bandit pushing a shopping trolley... in a hotel?

Cast your minds back to the episode 'Relax' in season three. The Heelers head off on a beachside holiday where Chilli tries her best to 'relax' but realises it ain't so easy when you're a mum to two little ones. Hard relate! But that's not what people are talking about.

In the beginning of the episode, the family arrives at their hotel and pile into the lift to make their way up to their room. In comes Bandit with a shopping trolley filled with their bags and other holiday items.

Wait. A ... shopping trolley?!

The scene has left many viewers scratching their heads, and understandably so. Since WHEN do we use shopping trolleys to carry our luggage into a hotel room?

One fan shared a clip of the scene showing Bandit pushing the trolley in a fan group Facebook page, asking: "Why is Bandit pushing a shopping cart inside the hotel room?"

And many - in the US, UK and Australia - were questioning the same thing.

"Never seen it in my life," one person commented.

"I was wondering that too!" another chimed in.

When asking Aussie viewers, many claimed they had never seen this before, despite the many fans from the US claiming it might be an "Australian thing".

"I've seen luggage trolleys, but not shopping trolleys! Who's using them? Are they even that practical?!" Liz told Kidspot.

"I've never seen this. Always a dedicated luggage trolley, not a supermarket one. I would think it's seriously tacky if it was a shopping trolley," Eleanor added.

And Nama agreed: "I've only ever seen the bell boy trolleys - but maybe it's because I stay in old school hotels. Perhaps it's a new thing?"

Others saw it as a bit problematic.

Carly asked: "Are they regular trolleys? That feels heavy to lift stuff into. If it was a trolley I'd just be like 'I'll take my bags.'"

And Jordana agreed: "My bags are notorious for hosting heavy tags. Hoisting it into a shopping trolley is hardly practical. The wheels will do just fine!"

The dads on the team were all for it, with Joel saying: "Never seen that. Wouldn't mind it though, I basically am the luggage trolley anytime we stay somewhere."

And Em said, regardless of how common or ridiculous it may or may not be, she was on board just because she saw it on her favourite animation.

"I support whatever the Heelers do tbh," she insisted.

Some say it IS a thing!

Well, despite what many said, it actually IS a thing in some parts of Australia. Some people joined the conversation to share that it is common to have a building cart in apartment blocks in Queensland, which look similar to shopping trolleys.

"It is very common in Australia to have trolleys at hotels to load up your stuff," one person shared in the chat.

"Yeah I’ve seen at a few places. The more expensive places tend to have the proper luggage trolleys but more budget places seems to have the supermarket style ones in Queensland at least," another person clarified.

And another agreed it was definitely a QLD thing: "In Surfers Paradise, definitely normal, although very annoying for the trolley collectors."

Well, there you go! Even the Aussies are learning a thing or two from our fave Heelers.
