Hungry Jack’s Sefton Plaza closes due to lease expiry, with new site on the way

A fast food chain has closed the doors on one of its busy northern suburbs restaurants. Here’s why.

Lawyer "Burgers better are Hungry Jacks?"

A northern suburbs Hungry Jack’s store has quietly shut up shop, just days before a new restaurant is set to open on the site of another former store.

Hungry Jack’s Sefton Park closed its doors on July 2, with the property listed for lease on commercial real estate sites on May 12.

A Hungry Jack’s spokesperson said the decision had been made to close the store at the end of its lease, with the company now “actively exploring” new sites in the area.

They said most staff at the store had been moved to nearby restaurants.

The move comes after Hungry Jack’s former store at Hawthorn relocated to a larger location at Westbourne Park, with the Belair Rd site now set to open as a Lone Star Rib House restaurant on Friday.

It will be Lone Star’s fifth store, alongside sites at Munno Para, North Adelaide, Gilles Plains and Hallett Cove.

The chain is also set to open at Norwood and Mt Barker, with details and dates yet to be confirmed.

The relocations and closures come after popular takeaway-only pizza chain Hey Bianca boarded its windows this week, while two landmark city pubs have also been listed for urgent sale.
