Big W overhauls its homewares range for fresh take

Durability, sustainability and afforability were at the forefront of the team’s mind when creating the items due to the rising cost of living and meeting young family’s needs.

One major retailer has dropped its new homewares range featuring the much loved bouclé material.

Big W announced its new homewares range, the biggest in-house overhaul of the store’s offerings.

The items flow across the entire home – from the kitchen, living room all the way to the bedroom.

The brand intended to have staple designs, and mixing in seasonal and on-trend designs so that it is easy for young families to update their home without having to start from scratch to be stylish.

Durability, sustainability and afforability were at the forefront of the team’s mind when creating the items due to the rising cost of living.

One of the materials that are heavily featured in the drop is bouclé, which has been a sought after style that was initially reserved for designer items and now has an air of affordability.

One of the items is the Openook boucle throw –pure cashmere, which has a retail price tag of $22, and cushions which are $10.

There is also a soft fabric chair – called Home Trading Company fabric occasional chair – that retails for $130, and has a similar look and feel to bouclé.

The chair has a matching ottoman – Home Trading Company coil fabric storage ottoman – that has a price tag of $90.

Gary Chen, Senior Designer at Big W says: “Our Openook range draws inspiration from the latest home trends, colours and materials. Looking ahead to winter, textures are key with a focus on bouclé, faux fur and velvet.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Rowed, Marketing Director at Big W, said the introduction of the line was a big step forward for the brand.
