When Erin Molan separated from her former partner late last year, creating a stable home for her daughter Eliza, 4, was fore of mind. “I bought this apartment after separating from Sean. I wanted something lovely for Eliza.”

Erin’s new apartment in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs is in proximity to Sean, with whom she shares custody of Eliza, and importantly, in a secure block.

“It’s not grand or super expensive, but we walked into it and it felt like home straight away. It was such a tumultuous and difficult time but to have something that felt like home was important,” says Erin.

“My daughter has gone through so much change.”

Adapting well to change is something Erin is quite familiar with though. She was raised in an army family and moved over 30 times and attended 16 different schools as a child.

Now, Erin, who is up at the crack of dawn to work breakfast radio, also recently joined the Sky News team.

She has already expanding her on-air role with the network, launching a weekly national affairs program, Erin, on Sundays at 7pm.

“It is going to be a wild ride of engaging guests and topics to debate, discuss and analyse. It is a wonderful platform I will have at my disposal to get to the heart of the issues facing everyday Aussies and put the tough questions to our nation’s political and business leaders.”

This is Eliza’s favourite toy and it comes up to her shoulder. Mind you, she takes it everywhere. The name changes weekly, but right now the name is Arla.

I’ve had such a big career change from being at Nine for 11 years and then nine years at 2GB. I have worked hard and I am immensely proud of the things I had done. I have packed away my Footy Show poster, I am not that level of sad.

I lived in Indonesia for seven to eight years and found this when I went on holiday back there. All of us kids have one now and mum and dad too. It’s essentially what brings us together. Eliza has one job in the house and it’s to fill this.

My first love before I had my daughter was reading and I guess, because I work in such a high pressure job, I can escape any thought in my head when I am reading.

A fan sent me that when I started doing football coverage. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge Canberra Raiders fan.

Mum and I went to Dubai about eight years ago. It was the first holiday we had taken just the two of us and mum bought these two cups for me ‘for when you get into your own home’. It was the only thing we could afford in Versace at the time.

I am incredibly close to my dad and he was the first person to see Eliza on the day she was born. He was a general in the army for 40 years and he softened when us kids started having kids.

Mum would always dress us the same and it was my biggest bugbear … and I’m talking up to when we were 14 or 15 and being dressed in matching Laura Ashley dresses.
