The European summer is in full swing and Australians are jetting off to chase the warmer weather. That means, resorts are at capacity and a common argument is being seen poolside at the fanciest hotels abroad.

Yes, we're talking about the war on reserving a sunbed early in the morning so you get the best spot all day.

And don't say you don't know what we're talking about. We know you do it too!

Hilarious video shows the reality of sunbed wars while on holidays

"They would all run"

While holidaying in Tenerife, Spain, one woman filmed fellow travellers racing to their hotel pool to reserve their gold-class spot along the pool's edge.

The hilarious footage shows a big queue of people rushing to place their towels on a sunbed (or two, or three, or four...) at 9am when the resort allowed them to go out and claim their spot.

Jess Clarke, 28, who hails from London, captured the iconic summer holiday battle from the comfort of her balcony.

Her cackle observing the people racing out is infectious. And their desperation is just the entertainment those stuck in a cold winter in Australia needed.

"I filmed people each morning queuing and waiting for 9 am when they would be allowed to reserve sunbeds," she shared.

"They would then all run to get the best ones."

Sunbed wars... it's a real thing!

After sharing the video online, Jess was amazed to see how many people loved it.

"The reaction online has been ridiculous - one of the clips nearly has two million views," she laughed.

"Everyone had so much to say about it."

Indeed, because it's a very real thing a lot of us see while on holiday.

But Australians are conflicted about whether or not it's OK to reserve a spot by the pool so early.

Many said it was ridiculous.

"Too spoiled here in Australia with growing up next to a beach and only having a towel to lay on. It feels ridiculous to have to book a spot to sit," one person shared.

Another agreed with how stupid it was: "I stay clear of hotel pools while holidaying for this very reason, I can never find a spot to relax and these families stay there all. day. long. Unmoving."

But others said they didn't necessarily have a problem with it - especially if it meant that they were the ones who managed to nab the good spot.

"I have no issue with people doing this for a short time. It is a first come, first served system. Book yourself a private cabana if it's such a drama for you. Or just sit by the pool/swim until a lounge frees up - you're on holidays - relax!" one mum said.

And another chimed in: "If I was the one reserving the sunbeds I'd feel totally justified, but I know that if I was another person who hadn't thought to do that I'd be like DAMMM, why didn't I think of that, but also, f**k you!"
