Customers go ‘crazy’ over schnitzel topped with fairy bread

A restaurant chain has been surprised by customers’ reactions to their chicken schnitzel dish featuring fairy bread and fairy floss.

Some would call it a crime against chicken. The Bavarian calls it a Sparkling Unicorn schnitzel.

It’s a dish that would horrify most schnitzel purists, but apparently punters have been lapping it up.

For the last month, The Bavarian restaurant chain has been selling a schnitty called: The Sparkling Unicorn.

It’s a golden crumbed chicken schnitzel topped with fairy bread, fairy floss, and served with cranberry sauce.

The dish, which I could imagine being Willy Wonka’s last meal if he was ever sent to prison for making all those kids disappear in his factory, sells for $35 with an ‘overloaded’ version (featuring extra schnitzel and toppings) on the menu for $50.

“It’s been crazy actually,” the Bavarian’s Mario Felten told news.com.au about The Sparkling Unicorn’s popularity. “It’s for grown ups but also for the kids, and the kids especially love it.

“It’s basically like having two meals in one. You can have your lunch and then your dessert straight away.”

Because I’m a serious news reporter, I agreed to try The Sparkling Unicorn and I hate to admit it, but it’s actually pretty decent.

Surprisingly, it’s not as sweet as you’d think (kind of like Ellen DeGeneres), and all of the flavours somehow worked together.

The Sparkling Unicorn is one of four ‘Loaded Schnitzels’ the Bavarian introduced back in April, but if you want one you’ll have to get in quick as they’re set to disappear from menus this Sunday, May 7.

The restaurant chain is replacing them with three new ‘OTT Super-Stacked Schnitzels’ which will be available from May 8.

This is the Matterhorn 2.0 schnitzel from the Bavarian featuring a whole lobster.

Among them is a schnitty that laughs in the face of the cost of living crisis – a $55 monstrosity called The Matterhorn 2.0.

It features two golden crumbed chicken schnitzels topped with mac and cheese, and a WHOLE FREAKING LOBSTER.

It’s a big dish, and one you could easily share with a friend if you’re not feeling shellfish (boom tish).
