Aldi brings back ‘unreal’ product – but it’s not the same as last year

An Aldi product given the tick of approval last year has returned after shoppers caused a frenzy over the “ten out of ten” item.

One product you need to buy at Aldi

A popular $3 Aldi product has returned to the supermarket’s shelves – with shoppers reporting the item is now “better than ever”.

The German retailer, beloved for its affordable offerings – particularly during the current cost of living crisis – caused a frenzy last year when it released a range of Easter products.

But it was one item in the range that Aussies went crazy for, with the budget supermarket selling out of its Dairy Fine Mini Peanut Butter Filled Eggs across the country weeks before the annual public holiday.

Now Aldi has bought back the highly sought-after chocolate treat for the 2025 festivities, with shoppers noticing a string of changes to the confectionary item that have improved the taste tremendously – not a bad feat considering many declared the product a “ten out of ten” previously.

Nectro Vlangos – best known for his food reviews as @nectoriouspapi on social media – noted that Aldi had ditched the individual wrappers on each egg, adding the shape had also changed.

“I like the texture better this time around,” he told news.com.au.

“It’s now half an egg shape rather than a truffle ball style, and because they are unwrapped they seem to be softer.

“Definitely better than last year.”

Nectro isn’t the only person who thinks the cult chocolate is “better than ever”, with a string of Aussies taking to TikTok to share their thoughts.

“That’s yum, I highly recommend,” one woman shared in a video.

“My jaw is on the floor, so good,” agreed another.

Aldi Australia said the grocery chain was “thrilled” to bring back the Dairy Fine Mini Peanut Butter Mini Eggs, explaining there was a good reason for the tweaks to the product.

“This year we’ve changed the treats slightly to pack more of the peanut butter taste shoppers raved about last year in a half-egg shape,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.

“We always look to take our customers’ feedback into consideration when it comes to bringing delicious products back to shelves.

“Right now, they are a limited edition product for Easter, which means shoppers should hop to Aldi while stocks last.”

But there is one drawback.

In 2024, the eggs – which also includes Salted Caramel and new Choc Hazelnut and Choc Orange filled varieties – were priced at $2.99.

However in 2025, the product has increased to $3.99

Aldi is confident shoppers will still find the product – described previously as “unreal” and “amazing” – just as tasty.

“These eggs have CHANGED THE GAME,” a social media user, who uses the handle @gemupsonmcpike, captioned a video last year.

The fitness lover then declared that the peanut butter-filled eggs were the “one product” Aussies should buy for the Easter festivities.

“You open them up and you think, ‘they don’t even look that good’, but wait,” she said.

“Look at all that peanut butter, it tastes like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.

“I’ve already eaten half the packet I’m not going to lie to you, these are unreal.”

Meanwhile, TikTok user @zdogg9 tried the eggs on camera and said: “Mmm, that’s epic.”

One woman even claimed in a separate video the eggs were “better than any other brand and 40 per cent cheaper”.

Aldi has also introduced a new Dairy Fine Milk Chocolate Melting Egg ($4.99) and Choceur Hollow Egg ($3.49) this year, which sit alongside a total of 17 returning Easter chocolates and bunnies that have lined up the middle aisles in recent years.
