Africola chef Duncan Welgemoed is heading south, teaming up with Noarlunga’s Cherry Burger to offer a limited-time menu.
His fried chicken – made famous by the restaurant’s takeaway menu during COVID-19 – and a burger twist on Africola’s signature peri peri chicken will be available from Saturday until October 31.
It’s in celebration of Cherry’s first birthday. It’s also a way to get Duncan’s Roadhouse Fried Chicken back out to the people.
“We can’t fit this on our kitchen menu but we get requests to put it back on all the time,”
Duncan says. “We can’t wait to serve it in an awesome environment like Cherry.
“Cherry does some of the state’s best burgers… (this is) our present for Cherry and everyone south who wants to experience a taste of Africola closer to home.”
Duncan’s special Mpumalanga Fire Sauce will also be available to enjoy along with the fried chicken, which will be served with skin-on shoestring fries finished with peri peri salt.
The collaboration is a first for Cherry – an affordable, retro-look burger bar that prides itself on using quality South Australian ingredients. As well as burgers and fries, it’s the only place to find AMSCOL soft serve ice cream.
Cherry Burger is open daily, 11am-8pm, at Colonnades Shopping Centre (Goldsmith Drive entrance).
