McLaren Vale’s Orbis Wines has appointed a “trailblazer” in preservative-free winemaking as its new head winemaker and managing director.
Verity Cowley will bring over 15 years of experience in winemaking and viticulture to the dual roles.
Renowned for organic and preservative-free winemaking, Ms Cowley said she’s hoping to further develop the winery’s “holistic approach to sustainability” and ensure their practices make a long lasting environmental impact.
“I am excited to join Orbis Wines, a winery that shares my values for sustainability and crafting wines that reflect the land they come from,” she said.
“I look forward to continuing Orbis Wines work towards a regenerative future and creating wines that express the true essence of McLaren Vale while pushing the boundaries of sustainable winemaking.”
Since launching in 2018, Orbis Wines has been at the forefront of sustainability, integrating eco-friendly practices across its operations, using solar power and rainwater evaporation to help the winemaking process.
Orbis founders and co-owners Kendall Grey and Brad Moyes said they’re thrilled to have Ms Cowley on-board.
“Verity shares our philosophy of preservative-free and minimal intervention winemaking,” they said.
“We love her trailblazing spirit, and we are very excited to see where the journey takes us.”
