Haigh’s Chocolates release a new luxury advent calendar priced at $1075 each

SA’s favourite chocolatier has released a VERY high-end extravaganza advent calendar – and this is not for kids.

Haigh’s Chocolates has launched an Australian-first luxury advent calendar in time for Christmas.

Billed as a “once in a lifetime” experience, the handcrafted, limited edition boxes feature 24 drawers embossed with gold foil detailing and include several never-to-be-seen again chocolates.

Priced at an eye-watering $1075, just 50 of the calendars have been created by the iconic South Australian chocolate maker.

Haigh’s Chocolates chief executive Alister Haigh said the SA-made product was unique in Australia and part of the brand’s push into the “ultra premium” market.

“With Christmas coming up and people not being able to travel overseas, we thought there might a few people interested,” he said.

“Our ongoing commitment to deliver first-class chocolate has seen us strive to create something truly memorable and distinct … it really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Easily their most expensive product, Mr Haigh said the bespoke boxes – aimed at adults – will feature exclusive chocolates such as milk vodka-filled spheres, dark whisky-filled spheres and milk caramel-filled biscuit, along with a selection of their new festive season range.

“This is the ultimate Christmas indulgence. This enchanting collection of artisan chocolates is something to be cherished and savoured,” he said.

With 15 stores closed interstate due to Covid-19 lockdowns, Mr Haigh admitted business was “a little bit quieter” in recent months, but he was optimistic about a bumper Christmas season.

“Online has really taken off... and we’re hopeful we’ll sell all the advent calendars,” he said.

“This is obviously a test to see if there’s demand, and if there is, it might lead to more down the track.”
